LUX Audience Week: Follow a Q&A with the film directors

LUX Audience Week: Follow a Q&A with the film directors

From 29st March to 1st April 2022, screenings of the films running for the LUX Audience Award 2022 will take place across Europe simultaneously. The screenings are organised by the European Commission, in cooperation with the European Parliament, Europa Cinemas and the European Film Academy. Viewers in all member states can share a cinematic experience in various European cities at the same time, followed by an interactive debate with the film directors.

Last year, a successful edition had to be adapted due to the restrictions imposed by the Covid pandemic. Now, the LUX Audience Award is back. The three films nominated for the 2022 LUX Audience Award Flee by Jonas Poher Rasmussen, Great Freedom by Sebastian Meise, and Quo Vadis, Aida? by Jasmila Žbanić— will be showcased at festivals and in multiple cinemas across Europe until the 25th May when the voting for LUX Audience Award 2022 closes.

The culminating point of this campaign is the LUX Audience Week that consists of simultaneous screenings in Brussels and in a dozen cities across Europe, followed by a Q&A session with the film crew. The audience will have the opportunity to interact with them via their mobile screens.

Tickets to the screenings are free and available on the participating cinemas’ website on a “first come, first served” basis (you can find the list of cinemas below). The Q&A session will be live-streamed on the Lux Audience Award Facebook page. The directors and producers of the three nominated films look forward to answering the audience’s questions.

The Lux Audience Award sheds light on three films that are at the heart of the European public debate with the objective of building cultural bridges across European audiences.

Given the war unfolding in Ukraine and following the condemnation by the EU and its partners, this edition of the LUX Audience Award invites European audiences to stand together for peace.
